Congratulations on considering this field. It's a fun and extremely rewarding industry to ba a part of!
Please take the time to research your instructor and course. Because this is an unregulated industry, there are many newbys who have been in this industry very few years or less that want to be teaching and they have not had any experience or training in how and what to teach, they have only recently been doing permanent cosmetics themselves, so please do diligence in your selection before committing and having regrets after the fact.

The most powerful testimony of an educational program in the field of permanent cosmetics is the success of the students who have graduated, and the positive growth of their businesses because of their satisfied clients. For nearly 20 years, I have personally trained and mentored students worldwide, one or two at a time. That amounts to only 12-24 students per year. I am very proud to be listed by the SPCP as a nationally approved trainer and a Subject Expert (SME). I've also had the priveledge to serve on their Board of Directors for 2 years.
Thanks largely due to the SPCP and the many hard working and dedicated professionals in this field, permanent cosmetics is finally being recognized nationwide as an industry of our own, and one that deserves to be both safe and professional.
The Washington State Department of Licensing and the Department of Health are in a very preliminary stage of considering regulating permanent cosmetics, tattooing, piercing and electrology. Currently, the only citizens of Washington State being protected today in Washington are those who are poorly trained. This is why we need licensing.
I am currently serving on the Washington State DOL Cosmetology Advisory Board, and the Body Art Tattoo Advisory Committee listening and addressing concerns of the citizens and what I am hearing is one thing... "Why isn't permanent cosmetics regulated in our state?" If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.
Sincerely,
Mary Tanneberg
