How do I care for my new permanent lip blush/color

Congrats on your new lip blush / permanent lip color πŸ’‹
Lip skin heals differently than brows, so aftercare is especially important. Follow this closely for the best color and softness.

First 24 Hours (Critical)

  • Expect swelling, tenderness, and intense color β€” all normal.

  • Gently blot lips with a clean tissue to absorb lymph fluid.

  • Apply the provided aftercare ointment every 1–2 hours to keep lips moist.

  • Don’t drink through a straw.

  • Stay hydrated.

🚫 Avoid

  • Touching lips with unclean hands

  • Kissing

  • Hot, spicy, salty, or acidic foods

  • Smoking (or wipe lips immediately if you do)

Days 2–5 (Peeling Phase)

  • Lips will feel dry and begin to peel or shed.

  • Apply aftercare balm at least 3–5 times daily.

  • Let peeling happen naturally β€” do NOT pick.

  • Color may look uneven or patchy during this stage.

🚫 Do NOT

  • Exfoliate lips

  • Use lipsticks, glosses, or tinted balms

  • Use petroleum jelly unless instructed

  • Lick lips (this causes dryness and color loss)

Days 6–10 (Ghosting Phase)

  • Color may appear very light or β€œgone” β€” this is normal.

  • New pigment resurfaces gradually over the next few weeks.

  • Continue moisturizing daily.

Weeks 3–6

  • Color stabilizes and becomes more even.

  • Final tone appears softer and more natural.

  • This is when your artist evaluates results.

Long-Term Care

  • Use a lip balm with SPF daily

  • Avoid frequent chemical peels, lasers, or exfoliation on lips

  • Keep lips hydrated β€” dry lips fade faster

  • Touch-up at 6–8 weeks is essential for longevity

What’s Normal

βœ” Swelling (24–72 hours)
βœ” Tightness or chapped feeling
βœ” Peeling/scabbing
βœ” Color fade (30–50%)

Call Your Artist If

  • Severe swelling after 72 hours

  • Signs of infection (pus, fever, excessive redness)
